In the middle of the mountains of Monchique located in Algarve, Portugal lives a family who stages a festival alike techno party called "Pizza Night" with a selfmade all-you-can-eat pizza buffet every Friday. As a commune together with volunteers the family built a spot for guests, friends and a home in nature under harsh natural circumstances. Longing for sustainability and a way out of an overworked society Rudiand his former partner Katharina and her son Francesco came to Tojeiro in the Algarve 12 years ago. When they were forced by the natural conditions to stop their dream of an independent and sustainable self-sufficiency they found a way in financing their rented land by hosting small and later bigger pizza and techno events with at its peak up to 1.600 guests.
The global Covid-Pandemic hit the Fridayhappiness Associaçãohardly. After month without income Rudi and his family had to take out several loans in order to pay their living expanses.
More than ever the commune is struggling to get income to be able to remain, caught between the wish for sustainability and the need to survive in capitalism.
